We are excited to bring Katrina home for Christmas this year. We got approved for wheelchair transportation last month. The first place we took her was to see Burlesque in theaters, which she responded to very well.
Our goal is to get her out of the hospital as much as possible. Steve takes her out to the Coronado Bay for a couple of hours every day during the week. Kacee and I take her out in the evenings and weekends for fresh air.
We just started holding her up so she could try to stand. She has been doing very well and even attempts to move her feet into a couple of steps. However, until she can obey a direct command from the physical therapy staff, they will not start a physical therapy program. So, we started our own version to help her walk again and strengthen her muscles.
We want to thank all of you who continue to believe and pray. It is awesome to see her make sounds and smile at everyone with those beautiful eyes of hers. One day she will walk out of that hospital and it is the faith, hope and love from all of you that make a difference.
We hope that one of Trina’s friends from the past or present will come see her in person soon. Any familiar face might make a difference to her cognitive recovery. Please send any messages for Katrina to me via email, letter, or text and I will read them to her.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Stay tuned for another update soon.
Love, Katrina’s Family
