HELLO and HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL:
I just wanted to take the time to say Thank You God and Thanks to all of you who continue to pray and help our family. I have heard from those of you who have been caregivers for a family member, therefore know how difficult it can be yet there are many rewards – knowing you are doing the right thing, the very best for your loved one. We absolutely could not have survived this or provided for Trina without the prayers / help.
In addition, we had been hit with other health issues (Steve having cancer, then Diverticulitis) and again – a couple amazing people made it possible for us to deal with everything that was in front of us. Of course we have times in daily living where our situation feels very lonely .. and that is when God himself comforts us. No matter what – WE ARE THANKFUL, THANKFUL !! ~
In the beginning when we asked for donations for Trina (within this website via pay pal) – it was mostly for acupuncture. Now, it is our hope that over the next few months – that others might consider some “special” requests / needs for Trina. Our desire is to make life as safe and as enjoyable for her as possible. With Medi-Cal alone, believe me this is not possible. So, for instance the mattress that came with her Medi-Cal bed is useless. Over the last 5 months we have had to purchase 2 air mattresses (that prevent bed sores) – one for $200 (normally $2,000) and another for $750 (normally $6000) and yet since they are used, they are not lasting. It is our hope to one day be able to get her a new air mattress and maybe even a better hospital bed – to enhance her safety. These are bigger items, so we have to trust that between us saving and those helping that feel led to – it will happen just when it is supposed to. Next, on more of a fun request (not a need) – when Spring comes again we would love to be able to get her one of those canopy bike trailers where she could ride behind us on a bike ride in a safe, secure bike trailer (may need to be custom?) … again, not cheap, so a patient request when the timing is right. This way we can take her outdoors more and in alternatives ways to see the outside besides in a wheelchair.
Lastly – if you know of other families in a situation like ours that may need help for their loved ones … we are also desiring one day to form a foundation that might encompass helping many. Sometimes getting more than the basics makes life feel normal and we hope to be a part of making that possible for others, too.
THANKS AGAIN FOR CHECKING IN WITH US AND MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING BE BLESSED.
Love, Trina’s Family
