Carr Fire

Well just as life seemed to be getting back to normal, the surprise of the Carr Fire hit Redding with the epicenter very close to our home. We had to flee to Sacramento and care for Trina in a hotel without a hospital bed (quite difficult, but we made it work) as it was the closest available hotel room. Over 40,000 fled Redding at the same time so the hotels filled quickly. Then we moved hotels 3 times and were ready to move today for the 4th time and the evac order was released for re-population back into our neighborhood. Many of our neighbors homes did burn down (64 in our development), so we really want to keep praying for each and everyone who had a loss. Even lives were lost, which is just so sad. So, we feel like we have nothing to complain about by comparison to the magnitude of what this nasty fire did to others! All we are doing now is clean up. And, it is SO GOOD to have Trina back in her special care room. She is resting now and we are all safe. Hallelujah!

We do not even travel because hotel living is really hard. But I did learn if we got a Residence Inn where there are bedrooms and you stay for say a week – a hospital bed can be rented and used in the hotel. This opened our thoughts about trying to travel some time in the future with Trina. Expand her stimulus (and ours – lol). If we had gone to the 4th hotel today instead of back home we were going to have a hospital bed delivered, so we haven’t officially tried it, but excited to get the chance when it is a fun time and not an emergency.

A big thank you to everyone who has lifted us up in prayer and also helped us by helping Trina’s sister Kacee during this fire! Kacee’s baby, my granddaughter Jadyn (20 months old) just had open heart surgery just a day before the fire, so her recovery had to be in a hotel room. Also, the fire affected Kacee’s income as she is self-employed, so this is a very trying time. Some amazing people came forth to save the day.

Blessings to all of you. Be safe and remember to love one another. In the blink of an eye things can change.

God Bless,

Sandy, Trina’s mom
