In the aftermath of the CARR FIRE so many people we know personally lost their homes. To hear their stories is heart wrenching. Most of the stories told also included praise for the Firemen and praise for the insurance companies. It is refreshing to hear hope come out of such a disaster. So please think of these families and say a prayer for them.
I have yet to be able to take Trina out for a walk. Our River Trail was burned as well and it is open now but I wanted to wait for the smoke to clear before bringing her outside. Today was fairly clear, so I took my first “test” walk and if it continues to improve I will be so happy to get Trina back outside. Right now the key word is Mask. Wear a mask. You don’t realize just how appreciative you are about having beautiful walking trails until you can’t use them!
Please never stop praying for Trina. Though we feel so blessed that she is doing better after suffering for nearly 2 years from what the 2016 car accident did to our lives and health – there are always daily issues that are intense. She seldom has quiet moments, making various loud sounds and some times the screaming still occurs. We have learned to watch TV on “closed caption” so we read the TV as you can’t hear a thing otherwise.
One new issue we are having with Trina is that her leg contractions are getting worse. And, maybe not worse but different in a way that it is more dangerous is a better way to say it. For instance, we can’t use a Hoyer Lift due to her flailing so we lift her into bed. This change in her legs created the need for us to have one lift while the other (my hubby and I are the only caregivers) holds her legs to keep them forward. We are handling the changes just fine (and have a note into her neurologist in SF too) however we’re concerned all the same.
Still, no matter how each day unfolds, even if intense, her smiles are contagious and we get to laugh and play with her, so the amazing parts of each day call out louder than the tough stuff!
Thanks to those of you who check in regularly. Sending blessings for your lives, too. One day at a time, trusting God…
Sincerely,
Sandy, Trina’s mom
