As I’ve shared already – this year IS amazing just because we got Trina back to about 95% function after a horrible car accident in 2016.
However, there are usually new ailments to contend with, some big and some small. In March Trina had to have an oblation surgery to help with over bleeding issues. She appears to be doing well from it, but in the last couple weeks her belly is distended in a manner that is outside of our comfort zone. We’ve set an appt at MD Imaging to TRY to complete an ultrasound on her tummy later this month, so prayers appreciated as it will take 4 of us to hold her down and hopefully long enough to see what’s going on. Most tests she needs to be sedated and that usually means a long process of approvals and trips to Sac or SF to get it done and of course none of that is easy.
Having recent medical issues has caused huge battles for mom within the medical billing systems (they have everything messed up and it is not easy to get fixed). In fact, so much so that her medical supply deliveries were stopped on June 1st due to a billing glitch and it’s taken me 3 months to get close to resolving the matter.
I may not have a 4 year college degree but I have a self-made Master’s Degree in dealing with “issues surrounding Caregiver Advocacy.” Recent months have tested me to the hilt. With hard work and diligence and a lot of prayer (always) I am happy to say we are near close to getting back into a secure routine.
Some good news is we were able to get Trina a little Physical Therapy (due a left leg having severe retraction issues) and they have a machine that holds her feet/legs and exercises them. This PT place (The Rose Center) allows you to join their membership and you can bring your person in and use the machines. We’re signing up for that! Yay…
Other news: Trina’s two older sisters are both pregnant at the same time and her “Staddio” (my husband that adopted her since her biological daddy is in Heaven) has had some health issues recently too, so the rest of the fam is busy with their own medical stuff. It will be a year of follow up at doctors appointments for us all. Mom seems to be holding steady.
We do have a huge family reunion planned in August and many have not seen Trina since her accident so it will be a great time to catch up with everyone. I wish Trina were able cognitively to understand something like a family reunion but for now we just have to embrace that she’s a smiley young lady no matter what she experiences each day.
No matter what we are dealing with – we feel blessed. In the big picture of life we have nothing to complain about. Challenges and trials are good to have in life and we fully embrace ours trusting that if we stay positive and have faith and do our part, God will meet us and He always shows up. We continue to see miracles in our life and we always appreciate prayers. We also want to thank those of you who check in from time to time to see how Trina and our family is doing.
God Bless each one of you and may any issues you are dealing with get resolved with miracles coming your way too!
Love, The Harp Family on behalf of Katrina (Trina) Harp
