Katrina has shown great improvement over the last few months. She seems to be more aware of her surroundings and her body more expressive. We attribute this progress to the consistent acupuncture and an abundance of love and prayers. We are experimenting with the NIKKEN therapies (water, magnets, etc.) and a product called “Natural Cellular Defense” (NCD) that appear to be making a difference as well.  In other words – we are trying everything!

On Sunday, December 19th, we celebrated Trina’s 22nd Birthday with family and friends. We took her out of the hospital to a restaurant in Coronado for lunch and Santa came over to greet her. It was a good day.

In just 6 months:

1) Trina was taken off the ventilator and her trach was removed.

2) We got approval to start using a wheelchair and take her on walks.

3) Trina was approved for MTS transportation to go anywhere for half a day at a time. We took her to see Burlesque in theaters last month.

4) She is able to squeeze our hands, receive hugs and hold onto us. She leans forward to be close to our faces and makes a lot of sounds (not words yet, but a lot of facial expressions with sound).
