2020 BLESSINGS

First, the picture shared herein is of Grandma and Grandpa Koury (both in Heaven now) with Katrina. I have few pics with them so happy to share this one.

2020 has started off good for Trina. So far no major colds or flus or major health issues for our girl. And, even though doing well, the issues we have been working on we have gotten a breakthrough with a good doctor (a new neurologist via Telemed, Dr. O’Connell) who is referring us out to specialists to get help for those issues. Usually in her severe, life long, condition doctors do not go the extra mile because they don’t think it’s worth it due to the lack of quality of life. Sad, but true. Well we believe it is all worth it and we want to continue to see miracles within the medical field. We have hope her issues can get better. For instance her left leg extremely retracts and can be dangerous for her if it progresses. Dr. O’Connell is making it happen. Trina also has another serious issue within her stomach and she is now being sent to a specialist for that. We usually have to travel out of the area, but we don’t mind when she’s going to get better care with specialists. We try to make the traveling fun with her.

At any rate, it’s just so refreshing to get somewhere within the medical field.

We’re looking forward to the many positive things that have started to happen in 2020.

Next, later this month, we are taking Trina SKIING at Mt Shasta to a new program for Special Needs people. We will get to take her down the slope. Should be amazing!

Can’t wait for the rest to unfold.

Thanks for your continued prayers,

Sandy, Trina’s mom

  1. Have you had an MRI? Google “MRI tennis” and check it out. People who’ve been dx’d as PVS undergo MRI and are told to imagine playing tennis but also imagine walking around their home. When normal people do this, different sections of their brain light up on MRI for tennis vs. navigating their home. A small percentage of PVS patients’ brains light up the same way, which means they understood the instructions. But they APPEAR to be completely unaware. U should have this test done on Trina. Also have u tried Ambien? This sleep drug has “awakened” people in PVS — not fully but to an extent.

    1. Thank you for the suggestions. Yes she’s had a couple of MRI’s. Haven’t heard of some of your suggestions, but decided not to try Ambien since it can have negative side effects. We want the best for Trina and are always open to new ideas, but move forward cautiously as we want to confirm a path is the right path. Only steps forward for quality of life. Thank you for your input and I will check into it. Blessings to you and be safe. From Trina’s mom and family.
